Paul Rubens Watercolor Block, 140-lb Artist Quality Watercolor Paper

High quality paper

I use many different brands and sizes of watercolor paper at all levels, and I recently received a free pad of this paper included with a set of watercolor paint. I liked the paper so much that I already ordered some more.

I love the way the paint moves on this paper - especially for large washes. I find with many brands, I have to work differently for each brand and type. This paper is one of the few where I don't have to think about how much or how little water to use or how to move the paint. For my style, it's just perfect for wet-in-wet, dry-in-wet, washes, ink. Super nice.

Paints look great on it, too. Some high-quality paper absorbs some of the pigment, so the paint fades just a little. This paper doesn't do that. The colors maintain their saturation and look beautiful.

I have only one complaint. There's a snazzy black sheet over the paper with a Paul Rubens logo on it, and it sort of gets in the way. But no big deal.

I'll definitely be buying more. The only thing that would improve this paper for me is if it came in more sizes.
